Alumni return to Clewer Green for a music concert
Thu 08 May 2025Last week, a group of upper school students returned to Clewer Green CE First School, their former first school to perform a music concert for children aged 4 to 9. The group, who are pupils from The Windsor Boys’ School and Windsor Girls’ School, played a selection of well-known pieces and original music.
This event was a great example of collaboration across Windsor Learning Partnership schools, showing how older students can contribute to their wider school community. It also helped to inspire the younger pupils, who were excited to see what they might be able to achieve in the future.
After the performance, the visiting students stayed to enjoy break time with the younger children. They played games together in the sunshine, giving pupils a chance to interact across age groups in a relaxed and friendly setting.
Mrs Laver, music lead at Clewer Green First School said "We’re so grateful to the students for returning and sharing their music with us. It was a lovely experience for the children and helps to inspire them to see what they could be doing in just a few years’ time. I’d like to thank Will Branch from The Windsor Boys’ School for organising the event. His efforts helped bring the group together and made the concert possible.” -
Observing VE Day
Thu 08 May 2025Today, schools across Windsor Learning Partnership are taking time to reflect on Victory in Europe Day, marking the end of World War II in Europe on 8th May 1945.
Through assemblies, classroom discussions and special activities, our pupils are learning about the significance of this historic day. It is a moment to remember the sacrifices made and honour the resilience of those who lived through the war.
We are proud to see our schools engaging with this chapter in history, helping the next generation understand the importance of unity, courage and remembrance.

Oakfield First School transition to Read Write Inc reading scheme
Fri 02 May 2025Oakfield First School have an INSET day today as they transition to the Read Write Inc (RWI) reading scheme.
This is a nationally recognised programme that supports our drive for the robust and relentless teaching of phonics, ensuring consistency, rigour and high-quality early reading instruction across our school.
"Read Write Inc. gives our teachers the tools and structure they need to ensure every child becomes a confident, capable reader. Most importantly, it helps to inspire a lifelong love of reading." says Howard Seymour, Executive Headteacher and Director of Primary Education for Windsor Learning Partnership.
Read Write Inc. (RWI) provides a fun and structured way we teach children to read and write, starting from their very first sounds. Children learn sounds in a clear, structured order, starting simple and becoming more challenging as their confidence grows. They practise blending sounds to read and segmenting them to spell, while enjoying engaging lessons with "Fred Talk," storybooks matched to their phonics level, fun games, and writing activities. Lessons are taught in groups based on reading ability to ensure everyone learns at the right pace, helping them to become a confident, fluent reader and develop a love of books.
